Harvest 2025

Heat and Hail: A Tense Harvest

Harvest Begins at Domaine Chapelle

This morning, the harvest officially began at Domaine Chapelle. In the vineyard rows, the air was already warm and heavy with humidity. The early afternoon carried the same stifling atmosphere, while storms loomed in the distance.

Then, at 4 p.m., the sky unleashed its fury: hailstones struck, soon joined by pouring rain and rolling thunder. Ten minutes later, as suddenly as it had begun, the downpour eased, and a clearing sky warmed the hillsides—almost as if to remind us of the vine’s resilience against the whims of the climate.

Fortunately, before this brutal episode, the first cuts of the secateurs had already brought in beautiful clusters. Abundant and of fine quality, the grapes point to a promising vintage, though we will have to wait until the end of these dozen days of harvest to discover its true character.

This highlight of the year, blending teamwork, passion, and nature’s unpredictability, remains a unique moment to share.
